swedish

Mesmerizing Swedish massage uses light to medium pressure. Smooth and flowing. Moderate to brisk tempo.

Swedish massage is a Western tradition designed to increase circulation and stimulate the venous return of blood and lymph to the heart.

Hydrotherapy, icing, and heat, such as the use of hot towels, are part of the history of spas offering massage.

The basic techniques of Swedish massage focus on relaxation with a continuous and rhythmic flow.

  • Effleurage (sliding or gliding)

  • Petrissage (kneading)

  • Tapotement (rhythmic tapping)

  • Vibration (shaking)

  • Friction

deep tissue

Swedish massage with Deep Tissue simply means slower, deeper, consistent pressure, adjusted for the receiver. The level of force applied depends on preference of the client and pliability of tissues. When the tissues have warmed up, the muscles relax and become more loose, leading to the application of more pressure.

The goal of deeper pressure is to alleviate tight, sore muscles, soften stubborn knots, and break up adhesions in the fascia. Deeper pressure or painful massage is not more effective! However, the loosening of tight muscles can uncomfortable but feel better afterwards!

hot stone

Hot stones feel amazing! With the application of oil, heated rocks are glided with continuous movement. The warmth permeates tissues which helps muscles to relax! (Contraindicated for certain medical conditions and not ideal for heat sensitivity.) Available as a complimentary add-on during colder months.

cupping.jpg

cupping

Cupping is a negative application of force creating traction to soft tissues which has a decompressing effect and sedates or stimulates the nervous system, improves short-term local circulation, separates tissues, and increases range of motion with the result of promoting healthier, soft tissue. Cupping softens tight muscles, loosens adhesions, lifts connective tissues, hydrates and increases circulation, drains excess fluids and toxins, and opens lymphatic pathways. Cupping reduces inflammation. Cupping can feel intense, tingling, and causes the receiver to descend into a profound state of relaxation. Release form required for cup kisses which are discolorations due to toxins, stagnant blood, and broken capillaries brought to the surface. Available as a complimentary add-on.

reflexology

Relax with the application of on-and-off pressure tracing the feet, coupled with stretches and rocking. The theory behind reflexology is based on a system of zones that reflect a map of the body on the feet and hands, with the premise that pressure reflexively affects a physical change by interrupting the sensation of pain signals to the brain. You may include about 10 minutes on the feet and/or 5 minutes on the hands at the beginning of your session by request.

Earthlite’s design for prenatal massage is also great for clients who have recently had breast surgery, suffer from lower back problems, or have difficulty lying prone. Please avoid first trimester unless approved by your doctor. Massage therapy for pregnant females in the first trimester has traditionally been contraindicated. In order to ensure the safety of your pregnancy, please do not schedule during your first trimester unless your doctor approves. When supine, the pregnancy cushion is removed and table is elevated for comfort and safety.
